They're called control people because control is what they thrive on. It's the center of their entire personality. They want to run things. Controllers are leaders. They love telling people what to do. They always seem to be on top of every issue and because they're so goal and action focused, they get a lot done. They don't need to be comfortable with an idea. They just need to want it. Comfort, necessary for the rest of us, is rarely necessary for the controller. They are very proud of finding what's wrong with things and getting them fixed. For this, they absolutely treasure when someone else notices and appreciates them for it.
If Fun people will live and die for approval, Controllers live and will die for APPRECIATION. Appreciation for what they do...what they accomplish, (and they accomplish a lot) They are the driven people of this world who start the |
|
companies and grow them into big businesses. They are the type-A personalities and work-a-holics. Because they are so driven from inside, they usually are driving other people outside. Controllers are very strong-willed people and don't often use much tact in dealing with people.
They will usually argue a point to death and won't give up when losing. They often like to dominate conversations, because that means they are in control. If you want to turn a lion into a manageable lamb, give Controllers appreciation for what they do, no matter where its done...home, work, social settings. And because a Controller can get very negative, sort through the negative for something that's positive and appreciate that. |

Maximum water, maximum soap, max everything. Fill it all to the top, then get going on something else. There's too much to get done to be fussing over laundry! The Control person is already thinking about some way to delegate the laundry job to someone else. |

We offer these "word snapshots" of Control people as they act in real life in the hope that these strong willed people will get a little more appreciation for what they do. If you are a Control person and always wanted someone to see your way of things, get them to come here and read this. Maybe you'll get some appreciation around here! |

Control person usually is making the calls to reach people who were told to get something done, but have not called back to check in. The Control person's voice is usually right to the point when not in a social mood, (when they can actually be very polite) Unless there is something to be gained, the call will be short. |

Control people don't make good passengers. They are much more at home behind the wheel. The drive home is a great way to plan for tonight and tomorrow's events. Follow up phone calls, taking notes and driving aggressively are a natural part of just going home for the Control person. By the way, don't drive slow around them. |
